About Mounds Transportation & Distribution

Mounds Transportation and Distribution (Mounds TD) provides both over the road freight and rail transportation. Our Mounds, Illinois facility is located on the CN class 1 main line and owns and operates approximately 4,000 feet of side track, switches and a cross dock for the staging, loading, unloading and cleaning of rail cars.

Mounds TD maintains and operates its own truck fleet including 48-foot and 53-foot dry vans, roll-off sleds and boxes including a vacuum sludge box, bulk tankers, field service and emergency response trailers. The Mounds facility also has seven loading docks, a secure drop lot and a freight scale for the weighing of inbound and outbound shipments via truck.

In addition to the current rail and freight operations at the Mounds facility, Inter-Rail Systems, Inc., has recently completed construction on a new center at the Mounds location for the cleaning of non-hazardous, hazardous and food grade rail cars. This top-of-the-line facility was completed in 2004.
